Human Environment and Bioarchaeology (HEBA)
HEBA conducts archaeological fieldwork on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast in collaboration with the Institute of Archaeology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. We carry out field surveys and excavations at Copper Age sites on the Avren plateau near the famous Copper Age (5th mill. BCE) cemetery of Varna. Our students develop skills in non-destructive prospection (geophysics, UAV), archaeological surveying, stratigraphic excavation and recording, sampling, finds documentation and processing.
